Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is officially underway, with all teams gathering at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia for pre-season testing from October 27 to 31.

The five-day session offered the first real glimpse of the competitive order ahead of the new campaign, as teams put the all-electric Gen3 Evo single-seaters through their paces.

For DS PENSKE, it was a productive week of running, with both drivers Maximilian Günther and Taylor Barnard clocking solid mileage and demonstrating competitive pace across the six official timed sessions.

Taylor Barnard impressed on debut, setting the third-fastest overall time during the collective sessions — an early highlight that reflects the team’s strong preparation and growing confidence ahead of the inaugural round in São Paulo, Brazil. Alongside him, Max Günther delivered a consistently competitive performance across all four days of running, underlining his trademark precision and steady pace – very promising results as the team continues to fine-tune performance before the season opener on December 6th, 2025.

This year’s test also featured a dedicated session for women drivers, part of Formula E’s ongoing commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity in motorsport. Representing DS PENSKE, American driver Lindsay Brewer and Britain’s Jessica Edgar both took to the track in the DS E-TENSE FE25, gaining valuable mileage and experience at the wheel of the advanced electric race car.

Maximilian Günther – DS PENSKE driver

‘Very good and productive week for us here in Valencia. We nicely got through our program and experienced our car’s response to several changes which will be important over the course of the race season. We have great learnings from the week and focus now on dialling in our package for the start of the new season. Thanks to the whole team for the great work all week long. I certainly can’t wait to go racing in a few weeks time!’.

Valencia testing is complete — it’s been a week of ups and downs for me. We didn’t have the best start on day one due to a mechanical issue that cost us some laps, but the progress we made from the second day onwards was really strong. To start at the bottom and finish near the top is a great feeling. The whole team is full of energy, and with a result like this, I’m confident we can achieve great things this season.’

Phil Charles – DS PENSKE Deputy Team Principal

“It was a positive week for the team. It was great to settle Taylor into the group with all the race setup and team members in their usual positions as they are during race events. Max and Taylor completed a very strong week of setup and systems work. We leave Valencia having made good progress on brake settings, and tyre and chassis understanding. A solid week of work by the whole group.”
