DS PENSKE returns to Indonesia in high spirits following a memorable 1-2 finish in Shanghai, ready to take on the unique challenges of Round 12 at Jakarta’s Ancol Beach City Circuit.
Nestled on the northwest coast of Java, the 2.37-kilometre circuit at Ancol Park is a demanding, technical layout featuring 18 turns and near-constant cornering. With overtaking opportunities at a premium, precise car setup and millimetre-perfect apex execution will be critical. The off-line sections are particularly dusty, meaning the track is expected to evolve significantly over the course of the weekend as the racing line cleans up.
On top of the technical difficulty, Jakarta’s race presents one of the most intense physical and mental challenges of the season. All the drivers must contend with ambient temperatures firmly in the mid-30s Celsius and humidity levels hovering around 80%. The biggest variable, however, may be the region’s wet season climate, with heavy rain showers and storms a regular threat this time of year.
Despite the tough conditions, the Jakarta E-Prix remains a fan-favourite event, drawing passionate crowds year after year. Thousands of spectators are expected once again to pack the grandstands and line the circuit this Saturday, creating an electric atmosphere for another thrilling round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Round 12 kicks off on Saturday 21 June, at 15:03 local time.
