Tokyo, Japan –The ABB FIA Formula E Championship returns to the vibrant city of Tokyo for the second edition of the series at the iconic Tokyo Big Sight. Taking place on May 17 and 18, this double-header event marks Rounds 8 and 9 of the season, offering DS PENSKE Formula E Team twice the opportunity to score valuable championship points and climb the leaderboard.

Set against the dynamic backdrop of Japan’s capital, the 2.5 km street circuit promises a thrilling spectacle with its three long straights, tight corners, and uneven, bumpy surface.
These technical challenges will demand peak performance from the DS PENSKE drivers who must blend precision with bravery to master the layout. Max, who clinched a spectacular win last year, is determined to repeat history on the demanding Tokyo street layout. Jean-Éric Vergne, unique two-time champion and proven force on street circuits, is equally focused on turning intense preparation into podiums.

Saturday’s race will feature the high-adrenaline PitBoost, adding an extra strategic twist and ensuring fans are treated to nonstop action.

Last year’s inaugural event saw a staggering 105 overtakes, the highest of any venue on the calendar, turning Tokyo into a favorite among drivers and fans alike. With tens of thousands of motorsport enthusiasts expected to pack the grandstands once again, this weekend is shaping up to be a true showstopper.

As the season heats up, every point counts—and the DS PENSKE squad is ready to deliver.
The races will take place this Saturday and Sunday at 3:00pm local time.

Jean-Éric Vergne, DS PENSKE Driver – 2018 & 2019 Formula E Champion

‘Tokyo is a race I’ve been looking forward to since the start of the season. The atmosphere is incredible, the fans are so passionate, and the track is one of the most challenging we face. I didn’t get the result I wanted here last year, so this weekend is a chance to reset the story. With two races, there’s a huge opportunity to make a move in the standings. The car feels strong, the preparation has been meticulous, I know what this team is capable of, and if we execute well, we can bring home some serious points, I am here to fight!’

Maximilian Günther – DS PENSKE driver

‘Tokyo holds a special place in my heart. Winning the first ever e-Prix last year in the streets here has been a highlight. Being with Formula E in Japan feels amazing, the fans have a real passion for racing. The track is a street circuit from the text book, with many bumpy and technical sections, including some fast ones – lots of fun to drive here. The races will be strategic again and our preparation has been really good. We used the time efficiently between Monaco and Tokyo, feel ready and aim to turn the momentum our way.’

2.575m track length
