Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is officially underway, as teams gather at the iconic Circuit of Jarama, Madrid, for the common pre-season testing event.
Originally planned in Valencia, the event was relocated due to severe flooding that devastated the Valencia region. For Teams and drivers, these test sessions are a crucial opportunity to fine-tune their vehicles and strategies before the high-stakes competition begins in earnest on December 7th at Round 1 ion São Paulo, Brazil.
Behind the wheels of the DS E-TENSE FE25, the latest generation of Gen3 Evo, the DS PENSKE drivers consistently demonstrated strong pace, placing their cars within the top 10 across the multiple sessions. Their impressive performance signals both drivers skill and the Team’s adept engineering in maximizing the potential of the new four-wheel-drive technology.
As part of this year’s official pre-season tests, Formula E Introduced a dedicated test session for women drivers for the very first time. Representing DS PENSKE, British driver Jessica Edgar and Beitske Visser from the Netherlands, took the wheel of the DS E-TENSE FE25 cars. After a three-hour session, they respectively recorded the 11th and 6th fastest times, among the 18 drivers classified.
The first race of Season 11 will take place on December 7 in São Paulo (Brazil).
Jean-Éric Vergne – DS PENSKE Driver – Formula E Champion in 2018 and 2019
‘We’ve had a productive few days of testing, we managed to run our testing program with strong pace and without major issues. We tested a lot of things and we have made great strides in understanding the new Gen3 Evo, I am confident that we will be competitive from the start of the season. This is shaping up to be an exciting racing year.’
Maximilian Günther – DS PENSKE driver
‘I‘m really pleased with our week here in Jarama. Having the women drivers session is such a big milestone as well. The amount of progress has been strong and I‘m feeling great in my new car. The work with the entire team has been brilliant, everybody has done a mega job, working really hard all week. We dialed in our package in all the key areas and are ready for the start of the season in São Paulo next month.’
Beitske Visser – DS PENSKE woman driver
‘A very good experience, took some laps to get used to the car as it is a very different feeling to the cars I am used to, but I really enjoyed the session with the team. Getting to do the 350kw laps in the end, with the four-wheel drive, was very exciting and let’s see what comes next!’
Jessica Edgar – DS PENSKE woman driver
‘Overall the session was really good, the 350 kw laps were a bit challenging, however the 300kw laps went pretty well and I felt good in the car. I really enjoyed getting to drive a Formula E car and working with the team.’
