DS PENSKE celebrates their third podium of the season and heads home with a triple points haul after the weekend’s double header around the iconic Tempelhof airport track in Berlin.

After a triple run of new races, the team returns to the historic Tempelhof airport track to take on the renowned technical circuit with the unforgiving concrete track surface which takes its toll on energy management and making strategy calls key. The team demonstrated their hard work and progress from the outset with a promising start to the weekend thanks to Stoffel Vandoorne setting the early pace in FP1, having previously demonstrated form around this track.

At today’s eighth round, Jean Eric Vergne started from P4 and finished on the podium in third; following yesterday’s battle from P10 to finish in seventh position.

Stoffel Vandoorne started today’s race from P9 to finish in the points in eighth, after qualifying for Round 7 in a promising P3 but unfortunately having his race ended by a big shunt from another car.

At the halfway point of the season and another 25 points in the bag from this weekend, the drivers and team delivered another result to be proud of as the DS E TENSE FE23’s performance successfully defends fourth position in the team standings. JEV advancing to third in the Drivers’ Championship.

The team looks forward to returning to Monaco for Round 9 on Saturday 6 May, 2023, for the crown jewel in the calendar and to continue the push into the second half of the season.

‘Resilience. I think that’s the word for our weekend in Berlin. We had a very good qualifying on Saturday and then a tough race. But the team put all that behind them, refocused and pushed on to an equally good Sunday qualifying where again we put both cars inside the top 10. The drivers ran very smart races and the strategy calls were spot on. JEV fought in the top-5 all race long and finishing a very respectable third. A lot of good points this weekend and the team leaves 3rd in the drivers championship and 4th in the team championship.  I’m very proud of the effort and looking forward to Monaco with the aim of getting both our drivers on the podium.’

 Jean-Eric Vergne, Formula E Champion in 2018 and 2019

‘Overall, it’s been a good weekend. We’ve had a very good day today. A very good qualifying, good race, and good execution. The car I had was great and we managed the best results that we could. I’m very happy with this result and this podium But I’m going to keep pushing hard because we need more wins. Overall, it’s been a good weekend and I’m happy. Let’s keep pushing’.

Stoffel Vandoorne, reigning Formula E world champion

‘Another difficult race. First of all, a wet qualifying which was not easy with the tyres and what to do. Qualified P9 which was not ideal, but still a reasonable position to go racing. The race was dry so I kind of knew that it was going to be a chaotic one again and similar to yesterday where no one wanted to lead. It turned out that way, however I think the car felt a little bit less competitive than yesterday. I struggled a little bit more to be efficient and to get an energy advantage. I kind of knew it wasn’t my race, let’s say, so I’m just tried to stay out of trouble. P8 in the end’.
