Monaco, Monte-Carlo – For the first time, Monaco hosted a double-header of back-to-back Formula E racing, treating fans with a spectacle of adrenaline-pumping action and jaw-dropping moments. Rounds 6 & 7 delivered excitement, but results fell short of expectations for the team.

Round 6 – Saturday, after a challenging qualifying session, Maximilian Günther and Jean-Éric Vergne missed the duels, starting 10th  and 16th on the grid at the notoriously narrow streets of Monaco. Despite difficulties optimizing their setups, both drivers battled within the pack, aiming for a top-10 finish. Günther reached as high as fifth before finishing 10th, earning a point for the Team. Vergne climbed from 16th  to finish 12th.

Round 7 – Another day, another race – and another test of resilience as wet conditions transformed the Monaco track into a slick, unforgiving battleground. In a race defined by its treacherous surface and unpredictable grip, both DS PENSKE drivers rose to the occasion, showcasing exceptional control and determination.

Max and JEV delivered a strong showing in qualifying, each advancing to the semi-finals of the Duels. Their efforts secured commanding starting positions on the grid, with Max lining up P3 and JEV just behind in P4.

Once the lights went out, the duo delivered a masterclass in wet-weather racing. Navigating the rain-drenched streets demanded more than just speed – it required racecraft, bravery, and sharp instincts. JEV seized the moment to lead the pack early on, engaging in fierce wheel-to-wheel battles in a relentless pursuit of the podium. Max followed closely, handling the tricky conditions with confidence and precision.

Despite the challenges, both drivers secured valuable points for the team: JEV crossed the line in P6, with Max close behind in P8. While the podium remained just out of reach, the result marks a solid double points finish in one of the most demanding races of the season.

The Team now turns its focus to Rounds 8 & 9, set to take place in Tokyo Big Sight, Japan,  Saturday 17 May and Sunday 18 May, 2025.

Stay tuned for more electrifying action!

Jean-Éric Vergne, DS PENSKE Driver – 2018 & 2019 Formula E Champion

It was a very good first part of the race for us. I got a solid start, and when the track was wet, we were very strong. Then we got unlucky with the Safety Car; especially as throughout the entire weekend up to then just the Full Course Yellow had been favoured. We were less competitive when the track began to dry, as the car had been very much set-up for a wet track. This was the best we could hope for under these circumstances.’

Maximilian Günther – DS PENSKE driver

Conditions were really tricky, and we got through qualifying well by setting the third and fourth quickest times. JEV got a better start than me, which cost me a few places. At the start of the race it was very difficult as I had no grip and had to battle massive oversteer. This meant that from there I didn’t have a chance to make progress up the leaderboard. I was fourth or fifth throughout most of the race, but things got more complicated once the track started to dry, so we had to focus above all on limiting the damage. That’s exactly what we managed to do by bringing two cars home in the points. We’ve learned a lot from this weekend, and the key point was to have turned the tide and positively addressed our situation after Saturday.’
