Season 9 – 2023 JULIUS BAER SAO PAULO E-PRIX

São Paulo, Brazil – DS PENSKE heading to Brazil, Round 6

After exciting races in the Middle East, India and South Africa, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship heads west, taking on the streets of São Paulo for the first time in its history. Round 6 of Season 9 will take place at 14:03 local time on Saturday 25th March.

Showcasing the remarkable diversity of the world’s great urban centers, the teams compete on a breadth of different circuits, and São Paulo is no exception. Located around the Anhembi Sambadrome, one of the largest outdoor venues in the city, the brand-new 2.93 kilometre São Paulo circuit should be adrenalin-fuelled. The track temperatures can reach some of the hottest of the season in Brazil, and thunderstoms are common around this time of the year, which can potentially spice up the race weekend.

After spectacular back to back podiums, the DS PENSKE squad is determined to harness the full speed and capability of the DS E TENSE FE23 and maximize the opportunities to finish front row at the checkered flag. No stone unturned in the search of the performance, the team has been working hard, focusing its development to chase every point, every millisecond. The team currently sits 5th in the Team’s championship.

With a first victory in Hyderabad, India, and a second place in Cape Town, South Africa, the Frenchman Jean-Éric Vergne sits third in the drivers’ championship and is prepared to fight as hard as he can to score more points and claim another trophy. Reigning Champion Stoffel Vandoorne showed promising performance in Cape Town and is pumped to give everything he’s got to stand on the podium this Saturday.

I’m really looking forward to Sao Paulo, the home of motorsport legends! It has been a challenging start of the season for me so far, however the car has showed great pace in Cape Town, so I am feeling confident that this weekend will be our weekend. The Team has been working so hard, so now it is up to me to provide the results we all deserve.’

 Jean-Eric Vergne, Formula E Champion in 2018 and 2019

‘Very excited to race for the first time in this iconic city, with the track going through the infamous Sambadromo, the home of carnaval. Long straights and tight turns, it is going to be very interesting ! With the team, we definitely are on the right trajectory, I am very optimistic that we have the car dialed in to where it needs to be.’
