DS PENSKE scores a solid 10-points in the weekend’s double header thanks to Stoffel Vandoorne finishing P5 during the Sunday race. The team finishes 5th in the teams standing and Jean-Éric Vergne P5 in the drivers standing.

At Saturday’s race, as expected on this indoor-outdoor track with very narrow turns, there was plenty of action. The race saw interruptions with two red flag periods in the last five laps due to a first crash, and then a pile-up involving several competitors. Our drivers did everything they could to keep their cool and stay out of the melee.

Starting P8 on the grid, Stoffel Vandoorne demonstrated a strong pace throughout the qualification session and the race but was unfortunately required to change a damaged front nose by the FIA during the second red flag period. The reigning champion had to restart from the back with little time to race his way up through the grid resulting in a 12th place finish.

Jean-Eric Vergne started P13 on the grid and contact caused a punctured tire and the Team decided to retire the car.

On Sunday, the pouring rain made for a tough racing environment for the team, car and drivers,

Race control decided to delay the start of the race and gave the greenlight at 6:30pm.

After a strong qualifying, Stoffel made it to the duels and started P5. The Belgian driver raced steadily and was able to maintain his position under the chaotic wet conditions. His team mate JEV started P11 on the grid and crossed the finish line on 22nd position struggling with the tires.

DS PENSKE would like to congratulate Jake Dennis and the Avalanche Andretti for their well-deserved 2022/2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Driver Champion Title, and Envision for their first Teams Championship.

After competing 16 races across 9 different countries, the curtain has closed in London on an exciting and action-packed season. The Team with his partner DS Autombiles finished 5th on the Team standing.

The team will regroup during the off season to raise the bar for the next season.

The inaugural race of Season 10 will take place in Mexico City, Mexico, on January 13, 2024.

Thank you for joining us along this thrilling journey and see you soon!

Jean-Eric Vergne, Formula E Champion in 2018 and 2019

‘On Saturday, I had a tricky start and lost a few positions while it was all happening. I then had some bad luck: I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Another competitor hit me in the left-rear, which caused a puncture. So the team decided to stop me there to save tyres for tomorrow’s race.”

The season is over and we’ve a few months to work on improvements for next season. We had a strong start to the season and some good races in the middle, we still finished 5th in the championship. I’m going to do everything to work with the team to find the solution to a better season next year.’

Stoffel Vandoorne, reigning Formula E world champion

‘Yesterday, we had an encouraging qualifying session earlier by qualifying for the duels and claiming eighth place on the grid. I managed to get a very good lap during the group stage. The race itself was very eventful and characterised by numerous incidents and two neutralisations. While we were fighting for sixth and seventh places, we unfortunately had damage to the front wing. The FIA decided that we should replace it during the second red flag period, which forced me to re-start at the back of the pack. It’s a shame because we were up for the points for sixth place.

‘Today, in the final race of the year, we finished P5. It was a good way finish off the season with some points. It was a tricky day, but we had a very good quali actually. Considering where we are, to qualify P5 was the best we could have done. It was important to execute that because the race was wet and very challenging in difficult conditions, with poor visibility and the grip on track. Obviously, qualifying at the front made it a bit easier. We had a solid race, there was not that much action to be honest, but we executed it well, particularly our strategy with the attack mode  Our pace was fairly okay, it was good enough to stay up there and be in the mix in case anything happened ahead. P5 today after a difficult year, and we’ve got a lot of work to do for next year. Over the break, we need a big reset and find a clear direction of where to go next season and hopefully come back stronger.’
