• Both drivers in the points – DS PENSKE Finishes P6 and P8 to Start the Season with Solid Points
  • Two-time Formula E Champion Jean-Eric Vergne and 2022 World Champion Stoffel Vandoorne provided fantastic race pace to thrill and entertain the Mexican Fans
  • Historical race for JEV as it marks the 1,000 points scored by him in Formula E. Only one other driver has hit this incredible 1K mark.

Mexico City, Mexico – DS PENSKE hit the track at the famous Circuit Hermanos Rodriguez for the first race of Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The team ranks the Mexico City race as having some of the most enthusiastic fans on the calendar.

Behind the wheels of the DS E-TENSE FE23, one of the strongest driver pairings in the series with 2022 World Champion Stoffel Vandoorne and the only two-time Formula E Champion, Jean-Eric Vergne

The Team delivered a very solid qualifying performance with Stoffel making the Duels and ultimately ending up P8 after a one place grid penalty triggered in FP2 and JEV qualifying P10 just missing out on the Duels by a fraction of a second.

When the lights went out at the start of the race, both drivers had a great start and made a solid first lap to end up with Stoffel and JEV advancing positions Thereafter both drivers fought vigilantly through a 2-lap extended race due to a long yellow to remove an accident in the early part of the race.

Both drivers had exceptional pace throughout the race and while hampered by the difficulty to pass on this circuit, the team strategy put them in solid places to advance.  JEV thrilled the crowd with multiple overtakes in the stadium part of the track while Stoffel held off several overtakes to keep his position in the top 10.

The fight by both drivers was well rewarded with them crossing the finish line P6 for JEV and P8 for Stoffel. The team received 12 points for its efforts and will now head to Diriyah, Saudia Arabia for Round 2 and 3 of the season on January 26 &27, 2024.

Stoffel Vandoorne, 2022 Formula E World Champion

“First race weekend of 2024. I would say it was a decent one. A lot of changes within the team. A new engineer for me as well. So first weekend of us working together. I feel we managed a decent race. The importance of this weekend was about having a clean weekend and to not make any mistakes and that’s kind of what we managed to do. So a double point finish is already better than what we did last year. And what is encouraging is to see the potential behind the team to progress from here. Plenty of potential and looking forward to the next races.”

  Jean-Eric Vergne, 2018 & 2019 Formula E Champion

“Good first weekend, scored some good points and had a good pace through the race. Obviously, very difficult to overtake on this track, but the pace showed we definitely could have had a better result. But starting from 10th it was a good result and a good start to the season. But now we start from here and we carry some nice improvement from last year and everything feels a bit more settled in the team and with the car, so it gives me confidence for the rest of the season.”
